This summer has been very exciting at the Summer Bridge Program. We did many things such as field trips, experiments, cooking, and physical activities at the high school.
The field trips that we took this year were to the Wildlife resource place at the dam it was cool learning about what jobs there are, and learning about how they helped animals. Also there was a lot of walking, and I like to walk. After the dam we went to the hospital in the same day and we learned about what everybody does there, and we had a tour of the whole hospital.
The next field trip we went to was to the bank. At the bank we had a tour and got to learn more about what they do and the processes they go through. Also we got to go into the safes that are in the bank.
After that field trip we went to the jail and the courthouse. At the courthouse we got to meet new people including the judge, and we ate the food that the inmates ate. The jail was in very high security every like 20 feet there would be a checkpoint that we had to click a button to get past the point. Also for the courthouse there wasn't much but we ate food in one of the meeting rooms.
The last field trip which was my most favorite was to DANA. DANA is a company that makes driveshafts, and the driveshaft is one of the most important part of a vehicle. If the driveshaft breaks then it can go through the floor boards of a truck and injure anybody around it. I thought it was cool inside the factory because there were many cool robotics handling the driveshafts, because of their size and weight.
For the experiments that we did they were pretty simple but they were fun to do, and work with. On the first day we played with oobleck, we made boats, and many other things and it was very exciting. We cooked many things and did physical activities such as working out and playing games.
